Family Travel: Camp sites, Kids and Chianti along the Italian Riviera

Travelling with young kids is a stretch I'm familiar with - in June 2023 we tried to find the blend between Tuscany and Center Parks and it was molto buono.

After several repeat visits to my favourite kid friendly resort in Cala D’Or, we conceded it was time to reclaim a part of our old selves in Italy. But our old selves are now parents to two little girls whose holiday happiness has a direct correlation on how much I can switch off and rest so we set out to experience a new kind of blend.

I can’t take credit for this one.
I stalked Jen Stevens (Features Editor at the Sunday Times) holiday and booked where she had stayed.

If you have kids age 4 and under, you might find my review of Cala D’Or in Majorca more aligned with where you are at. This trip was designed to meet the growing adventurous spirit of my 6 year old. The 3 year old loved it too it’s really best suited to kids ready for more freedom.

To begin, our attachment to Florence is 15 years old.
It was the first city break we went to as a couple.
The first stop of our Honeymoon.
The first place we took our 13 week old first born - whose middle name is…. Florence. She was a dreamboat of a travel companion, adored by Italians we were doted on at every meal. But as we know, doing Italy with kids that are older can be more challenging.

The solution to our need to have a bit of Italy back in our lives was to experience a euro camp style adventure for the first time (although we didn’t book with them… reviews weren’t great!)
