Breath brings oxygen into our bodies so that we can live.
But when we are physically or emotionally stressed (Hi!), it affects how we breathe. Breathwork helps us to calm our stress and bring balance to our bodies and Pat Divilly is one of the leading coaches in Ireland in this principle.
Last Saturday, Pat was running a workshop in a little studio in my neighbourhood and I took it as a sign that it was where I needed to be and what I needed to do.
And then the irony of kicks in - which I I begin to feel stressed and tense about what this will be like, who will be there, how early I should arrive at, what should I buy in the supermarket next door on my way home…
New experiences are exciting and rare as I weave my days through the familiarity of adult life, but this was deliciously new - and I felt a little nervous.
And I was right to - because what followed was a deep sensory experience that sent tremors and some fear through my nervous system as the breathwork took its hypnotic effect.
